Great Migration Safari

Follow the greatest show on Earth

The Journey

Overview

Built around the movement of two million animals, this safari positions you where the herds actually are — southern calving grounds in the green season, or the dramatic river country of the north from July to October. Camps are chosen for proximity to the action, and days are kept flexible so your guide can respond to the herds in real time.

Highlights

  • Camps placed on the migration's seasonal path
  • Chance of witnessing a river crossing (Jul–Oct)
  • Calving season predator action (Jan–Mar)
  • Full-day drives with picnic breakfasts and lunches
  • Ngorongoro Crater finale

Day by Day

How the journey unfolds

  1. Day 1

    Arrive in Arusha

Meet your guide and overnight near Arusha, ready for an early flight into the Serengeti.

  2. Day 2

    Fly to the herds

A light-aircraft flight drops you into the sector of the Serengeti where the migration is currently concentrated. Afternoon game drive from camp.

  3. Days 3–5

    With the migration

Three full days shadowing the herds — wildebeest columns to the horizon, nervous zebra at the water's edge, and the predators that follow. Your guide reads the movement each morning and plans accordingly.

  4. Day 6

    Central Serengeti

Game drive south through the Seronera Valley, trading the herds for resident big cats and year-round river wildlife.

  5. Day 7

    Ngorongoro Crater

Exit the plains via the crater highlands for a full afternoon on the crater floor — a concentrated finale to a week of wide horizons.

  6. Day 8

    Depart

Morning drive to Arusha with a farewell lunch before your onward flight.

Good to Know

Questions, answered

No honest operator can guarantee a crossing — they depend on rain, river levels and the herds themselves. What we can guarantee is positioning: camps in the right sector at the right time, and full flexible days to maximise your chances.
