Day by Day

How the journey unfolds

  1. Day 1

    Dar es Salaam → Saadani

Drive north along the coast, arriving for lunch. An afternoon game drive through palm groves and open grassland, finishing with a sundowner on the beach.

  2. Day 2

    Wami River & the bush

A dawn game drive for giraffe, buffalo and waterbuck, then an afternoon boat safari up the Wami — hippo, crocodile, mangrove kingfishers and, at the mouth, the open ocean.

  3. Day 3

    Beach & village

A slow morning on the sand, then a walk into Saadani village to see how a fishing community and a national park share a coastline. Turtle nesting visit in season.

  4. Day 4

    Return to Dar

A final morning drive on the way out, and back into the city by mid-afternoon.

Good to Know

Questions, answered

Honestly, modest by Tanzanian standards — you will reliably see giraffe, buffalo, waterbuck and warthog, often elephant, but not the densities of Ruaha or the Serengeti. Come for the combination of bush and ocean, which nowhere else in the country offers.

Ready when you are.
