Day by Day

How the journey unfolds

  1. Day 1

    Dar es Salaam → Mikumi

    Depart Dar after breakfast, arriving in Mikumi for an afternoon game drive across the Mkata floodplain.

  2. Day 2

    Mikumi

    Dawn and afternoon drives in lion country, with a midday siesta at camp as the plains shimmer.

  3. Day 3

    Mikumi → Nyerere

    Travel south into the Selous ecosystem, settling into a river camp with hippos grunting offshore.

  4. Day 4

    Boat safari on the Rufiji

    A morning game drive, then an afternoon by boat — crocodiles on the sandbars, elephants at the water's edge, and a fiery river sunset.

  5. Day 5

    Walking safari

    On foot at first light with an armed ranger, reading tracks and termite mounds. Afternoon game drive to a sundowner overlooking an oxbow lake.

  6. Day 6

    Return to Dar

    A last river breakfast, then fly or drive back to Dar es Salaam.
